The Watershed Initiative was conceived to encourage successful community-based approaches to restore, preserve, and protect the nation's watersheds. This new competitive grant program is a bold approach to watershed management in that it will provide needed resources to those watershed organizations whose restoration plans are ripe, and who are anxious to achieve quick, yet tangible environmental change. This year, Congress appropriated $15 million for the Initiative. |
