Water back to normal in Lockwood
Water service to Lockwood residents living east of Johnson Lane has returned to normal and a health advisory for people to boil their drinking water was lifted Friday at about 1:30 p.m.
On Sept. 26, a cap on a 16-inch main line near the intersection of Johnson and Old Hardin Road burst as construction crews were working in the area on a $21 million sewer project for Lockwood, cutting water service to many residents and businesses in the area.
That problem was fixed, but Tuesday a 10-inch line fissured due to shifting soil, interrupting service again. Temporary lines were put in place, and crews thought they had it fixed early Wednesday. But when they turned the line back on, it began to leak again. During the breaks, residents were asked to boil their drinking water and conserve as much water as they could, and the fissure was repaired Thursday.
