Tallinn, formerly Reval, is the capital of the Republic of Estonia.
Tallinn is a bustling modern city that boasts one of the finest
medieval city centers in Europe, carefully restored and maintained.
Since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Estonia
has assertively addressed its environmental problems, especially
pollution of fresh waters and the Baltic Sea.
The technical sessions will be held at the Estonian Academy of
Sciences in Tallinn, atop Toompea Hill near the Parliament building
and the Orthodox Cathedral. The welcoming reception on the evening
of May 12 will take place in the restaurant of the Hotell Vana Wiru
Tallinn, at the foot of the hill. |
